CLEVELAND — Through song and prayer, about 40 clergy with United Pastors in Mission held a vigil just down the street from the home where Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight were held for a decade and then rescued this week.

With the sun shining down, the group lifted up in prayer the women and their families to heal, and for the community to unite.

The prayer vigil then turned into a faith walk as a sign of taking back the neighborhoods.

Dr. Tony Minor said, “It’s sad that it’s pain that brings us out but we know in other communities there may be people locked up enslaved and hurting. We want to open their door for hope and love as well.”

And to spread the word, this group is first calling on all churches to be the example, and seek those who are lost or divided.

They hope other churches will include the message of unity this weekend when their congregations meets.
