CLEVELAND — City officials and Cleveland Police held a news conference Friday to address the weather wintry conditions.
Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams said officers received about 110 accidents on Friday morning. Street parking bans remains in effect until further notice.
“This is Cleveland. It’s nothing new to us. Enjoy the snow, but do it carefully. Drive slowly,” Chief Williams said.
Police also reminded residents who work in the University Circle area to leave work early to allow for room on the roads for Downtown drivers.
Currently, 29 plows are on the streets that are ready to shift into the second shift. The city also added a third shift, which will service residential streets starting at 10 p.m. to ensure a 24-hour cycle.
Earlier Friday, city officials declared road conditions ranged from “fair to poor” throughout Cleveland.
Cleveland allows to spend an annual average of $3 million on road salt, according to Director of Public Works Michael Cox.
The city currently has 17,000 tons of salt available.
