STREETSBORO, Ohio — Officials have now reopened I-480 westbound at the Ohio Turnpike overpass Friday afternoon after a crash caused structural damage to the bridge and led to the closure of I-480.

The crash happened when a Republic Services waste truck ran into the bridge with its pneumatic lifts in the upright position. The truck then became wedged between the bridge and the ground.

The accident forced the closure of the I-80 entrance ramp from I-480 east. I-480 was also closed. Engineers from the Ohio Turnpike Commission checked the integrity of the bridge before allowing it to reopen.

Traffic all over the city of Streetsboro was affected by the closure since it shutdown the main road in and out of the city.
