BUFFALO, New York — A Mentor woman hasn’t been home in several days after getting stranded from the Lake Effect snow that dumped up to 6 feet in the southern towns of Buffalo.

Pamela Kolbow told WKYC that she left her home to drive to Toronto and help a friend move out. She and her friend took separate cars driving back through New York when the snow began to fall rapidly — accumulations of several inches per hour at times.

“The snow was coming down so much that if I slowed too much, my car kept getting stuck,” Kolbow said.

That’s when she and her friend decided to keep driving until they located the nearest hotel. She said they have been staying at a Hampton Inn in West Seneca with limited food.

“Yes, we’ve been stuck in the hotel with limited food, but we have it good compared to those stranded on the road,” Kolbow said.

The City of Buffalo has currently declared a driving ban for the area as crews work to clear roads.

The hotel has been jammed packed with people, she says, with people even sleeping in the lobby on cots.
