NORTHFIELD VILLAGE — A military family will enjoy this Christmas together thanks to help of strangers and some neighbors who donated money for a Marine sergeant’s return home.

Kyle Migone, a sergeant in the Marines, wasn’t able to afford a flight home. And this year, it was important that he get here.

Kyle’s wife, Jill and his family sit together for their family photo this year with mixed emotions. She remains overjoyed that her husband was able to make it home, but yet devastated because this Christmas, is likely the last for her terminally ill father.

“Devastated, I mean. My family is my life. And just the thought of not having that time is just devastating” Jill said.

She said she came to town from Jacksonville to help her mom take care of her dad, leaving her husband behind, with hopes of reuniting for the holiday.

“It’s very important to be here for the holidays. And there are times when you can’t be here when you’re in the service,” Kyle said.

“It was so important to get Kyle home, so we could all be together for this last Christmas,” said Barbara Campana, Kyle’s mother-in-law.

“It’s just a feeling of being complete. With the kids and having Kyle home,” Jill said. “Being altogether is just the best. It’s the best. For sure.”
