CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio — A severe thunderstorm hit the town of Chagrin Falls Tuesday afternoon. One family says the storm destroyed their home.
“It happened too quickly,” said Betty Maclver.
Betty and Michael Maclver’s home flooded during the storm. They live at the low point of a long, hilly street.
Six feet of water filled their basement.
“All of a sudden, I saw literally a wall of water come at me,” said Betty.
The water was so powerful, it knocked out their basement wall, door and appliances.
“Next thing I know, we had six feet of water,” said Michael.
They say the basement is a total loss.
The Maclver’s said they have asked the city for larger culverts to collect water for years.
